When Tom Doherty first laid eyes on the lighthouse he knew it was damned.
An advertisement lured him to the island, offering a job renovating the old lighthouse and ramshackle buildings. What he didn’t know was that he was the only applicant. None of the locals wanted the job – no one dared.
Isolated and alone, Tom soon discovers why. Messages from disembodied voices; ghostly visitations and escalating horrors draw Tom deeper into the island’s evil past—a darkness that forces Tom to unbury the truth and bring demons of his own into the light.

There's plenty of mystery surrounding the island that Tom works on. The urban legends and local lore was neat to piece together with Tom's current situation. The hints and strange occurrences all began to add up and make sense by the end which rose into a big, entertaining fight.
Tom and Janika were decent characters but they both fell a bit flat, for me. Tom's determined and Janika's stubborn. That's about as deep as they go, though Tom does dive a bit deeper now and then. That being said, I found Squirrely and Murphy to be my favorite characters. They're background but they're vibrant with their eccentricities. They were part of of the community I mentioned earlier and they were fabulously done.
The whole "only an American can..." stuff (I won't spoil it for you) kind of made me twitch, but really, the story had a solid base and explored some of the great ideas behind many classic ghost stories that I've read and watched on TV.
