Travis's selfishness and jealousy toward his brother causes more than just one death and Dianna's bitterness causes a few more. The cycle seems never-ending and it's easy to hate some of them, though you know why they choose not to change. I really enjoyed Jenna and her research into her family's past. It's troubled, sorted and sometimes downright uncomfortable. Titus doesn't use a sifter when presenting raw emotion to the reader.
The mystery that surrounds the family and what the ancestors really want is terrifying and the power the ghosts possess when wanting something injects a lot of suspense into the story, especially when it's about characters you like!
