Cain Thaler’s lived more than four hundred years fighting rogue immortals, avenging the family he’d lost. It’s all he’s needed, all he’s wanted. That changes the fateful day he lays eyes on his fated mate.
Olivia Waden, a werewolf princess, is nothing like him. Unwilling to give her up, he sets a plan into motion: ignoring his need to claim her, he befriends her. Despite Cain's best efforts at friendship, Olivia has fallen hard for him. It is him she dreams of, him she wants as her fated mate. But she is sure he doesn't feel the same way. In way over her head, she has no option but to run away from the only man she's ever loved.
Will Cain find Olivia before it's too late or will their differences tear them apart?
WITH J.L. SHEPPARD
I loved her favorite quote! Ashley is such an underrated character.
ALL THE BEST!
Tell us about Awaiting Fate.
My latest release, Awaiting Fate, will be released March 27, 2015. It’s the first book of a spin-off series to my original series, Elemental Sisters. Awaiting Fate is the love story between Cain and Olivia. Cain is a demon warrior and Olivia is the princess to the Waden werewolf pack. This is a series, but like my original series, it is a standalone.
Here’s the blurb:

What made you want to become a writer?
I loved to read. I always wanted to write (even as a little girl). One day, I thought ‘if I don’t do it now, I’ll never do it.’ So I did.
Do you reflect people you know into your characters or do you prefer making them up on the fly?
Making them up.
What kind of research did you do for Awaiting Fate?
I made up the paranormal world where Awaiting Fate takes place, so all the research required was reading my previous books.
What themes might we find in Awaiting Fate?
Which character do you think is the most like you?
None. In fact, I try to create characters the complete opposite of me.
If you gave one character a chance to speak for themselves, what would they say about their world to the readers?
I hope they’d say it’s awesome.
I understand this is the first of the Fated Immortals series. How many books will it be?
So far I’ve written three. The characters in this series are introduced in the Elemental Sisters series as secondary characters.
What is your next project?
Next book I hope to get contracted is the first book of a new series, which is untitled. It’s a contemporary romance.
You can find my works in progress here:
Where can we find you?
This isn't your first book. What other novels have you written recently and where can we find them?
Demon King’s Desire,
Elemental Sisters I
Barnes and Noble
If your book could be a movie, who would play a few of your favorite characters?
Alexis Bledel as the heroine, Olivia. Liam Hemsworth as the hero, Cain.
What inspired you to write this series?
I love paranormal romance books. I wanted to write a series about five sisters since I have five sisters.
What advice could you give aspiring writers?
Write, rewrite, write some more then read, reread and read some more. You don’t learn unless you see examples of the craft, and you don’t improve unless you practice it.
What is your least favorite thing to write? How do you accomplish it?
Action like fight sequences. I always wonder if I’m describing it correctly.
What is your favorite thing to write?
What books/authors have influenced your writing?
My favorites have influenced me: Kresley Cole, Lynsay Sands, Kristen Ashley, Jeanine Frost and Nicholas Sparks.
What is your favorite paranormal/romance movie?
I have lots of favorite romance movies: The Notebook, The Vow, The Lucky One, Safe Haven. I’m a big Nicholas Sparks fan as you can tell. LOL.
What is your favorite paranormal romance book?
Demon from the Dark, Kresley Cole
Pen, Pencil, phone, tablet or computer?
What does your writing sanctuary look like?
Not much of a sanctuary, I write on my laptop on my couch.
Do you have any tricks when it comes to getting into the writing-mode?
Not really. Listening to music helps sometimes, but it can be distracting too.
Where do you call home?
Do you prefer paperback or e-books?
I like both. E-books are great for reading at the gym, for a trip or when you are on the go because (especially if you have reading apps on your phone) you have tons of books with you. It’s easy, convenient and no extra packing required. That said, there’s nothing like holding a new book in your hands.
If you could be any character of any book (including your own), who would it be and why?
I’d be Lexie from Lady Luck. I love her as a character because she’s been through a lot and she’s still a sweet, beautiful and caring person.
Is there an author out there that you'd really like to meet? Why?
Kristen Ashley because she’s awesome.
What book could you read over and over?
I’ve read lots of books over and over. To name a few: Demon from the Dark, Kresley Cole; A Hunger Like No Other, Kresley Cole; Vampire Interrupted, Lynsay Sands; Lady Luck, Kristen Ashley; Own the Wind, Kristen Ashley.
If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?
Knowing myself well, I’d say I wouldn’t want to know anything. If I knew, I may start worrying about things I shouldn’t be worried about instead of enjoying the moment.
What is the one thing you cannot live without?
Besides family, books!
Do you have a favorite quote?
For I am fighting for the old days, the old ways which I love so much, but which, I fear, are now gone forever, no matter how the die may fall. For, win or lose, we lose just the same. - Ashley Wilkes, Gone with the Wind
What is your favorite drink?
I used to love cosmopolitans, but lately I’m more of a wine drinker. I used to drink white, but I’ve been drinking red instead because of the added health benefits. (Nothing makes you want to stay healthy and be healthy than having a kid. LOL)
Are you an early riser or a night owl?
I have a 3-month-old, so an early riser. I used to be a night owl.
Is there anyone you'd like to thank?
Always, the support of my family.
Told you it was a good interview! Thank you J.L. Sheppard.
